Who You Are Not

“You will never fully embrace who you are until you let go of who you were. God is not consulting your past to determine your future. The labels that people placed on you do not define you—God does!” (T.D. Jakes)

In life, it’s easy to define ourselves by our past, our failures, or the opinions of others. But as Christians, our true identity is found in Christ—not in who we were or what the world says about us.

Satan’s Lies vs. God’s Truth

The enemy constantly reminds us of our past, whispering lies to drag us back into old identities. He wants us to believe that we are still bound by sin, failures, and regrets. But here’s the truth: God has set us free! YOU ARE NO LONGER THAT PERSON!

When we stumble, it’s tempting to think that nothing has changed. But even in our weakness, we must remember that we are children of the King, adopted into God’s family, heirs to His promises, and partakers of His divine nature (2 Peter 1:4). Our worthiness is not based on our deeds but on Christ’s sacrifice.

The World’s Definition vs. God’s Definition

Before Christ, we lived without true purpose, relying on the shifting wisdom of the world. But as children of God, we stand on the firm foundation of His unchanging truth.

The world may define us by our past, mistakes, or achievements, but God defines us by His grace, love, and calling. The Bible declares who we are in Christ:
✅ More than conquerors (Romans 8:37)
✅ Overcomers (1 John 5:4)
✅ Believers, not doubters (Mark 9:23)
✅ The head and not the tail (Deuteronomy 28:13)
✅ Able to do all things through Christ (Philippians 4:13)
✅ Filled with the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8)
✅ Blessed with every spiritual blessing (Ephesians 1:3)

Your identity is secured in Christ—your past no longer defines you.

Walking in Your True Identity

Since you are a new creation in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17), walk in confidence as God’s beloved child. Let your past be your testimony, not your identity. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead lives in you (Romans 8:11), strengthening you for every challenge.

So when doubt creeps in, when the enemy reminds you of who you used to be, or when the world tries to label you—stand firm in God’s truth.

You are redeemed, chosen, and loved! Live boldly in your true identity in Christ.
