WHEN THINGS FALL APART

Cyclone

In this world we are faced by many situations that can result in severe stress, anxiety, fear, anger, frustration, grief, hopelessness and many other tumultuous emotions. These feelings can overwhelm us, ruin our health, and diminish our ability to move forward.

But when we trust God and seek His guidance, He helps us make our way courageously through uncharted waters. He gives us his peace; a calmness and joy that knows no understanding, so that we develop a better sense of control over our thoughts and emotions, allowing us to make good decisions and move forward.

“The cyclone derives its powers from a calm centre. So does a person.” Norman Vincent Peale.

The Word of the Lord bids us to be strong and courageous as we face the storms. “Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you." Deuteronomy 31:6

In which storm will you trust the Lord for deliverance? Seek to have a calm centre and you will acquire the power you seek.

Call to the Backsliden

mountain cclimbing

Climbing a steep slope

“Remember the height from which you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lamp stand from its place.” (Revelation 2:5 N.I.V)

So you have fallen? Do not despair and let the flame of God’s goodness that has been lit in you be extinguished. It is precious.

The Christian journey is a narrow path up a steep slippery slope that is fraught with many trials and temptations.  What is important is to pray while still down on the knees, arise and keep going. The Lord is good and forgives those who genuinely come to him with a repentant heart. Let your failure be a lesson in humility and the need to walk hand in hand with God each day. Faithfully pray, read the bible, fellowship with others, remind yourself of all that God has done for you in the past and learn to persevere and wait upon the Lord. You cannot make it on your own. Lean on the Lord and grow.

The Christian life is very much like climbing a hill of ice. You cannot slide up. You have to cut every step with an ice axe. Only with incessant labor in cutting and chipping can you make any progress. If you want to know how to backslide, leave off going forward. Cease going upward and you will go downward of necessity. You can never stand still. ~Charles Spurgeon
