Surviving Deep Waters, Howling Winds and Dark Nights

Ship in a storm

“He stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea were hushed”. (Psalm 107:29 NIV)

One evening, Jesus and his disciples were crossing the sea. His heart was at rest and he slept. He knew he could face any storms that arose during the night. However, the faith of his disciples had still not developed a great deal, even after witnessing the many miracles Jesus had performed. Jesus had taught them that with faith the size of a mustard seed, they could move mountains, but when the storm came up they panicked. “The disciples went and woke him, saying, "Master, Master, we're going to drown!" He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm. “Where is your faith?” he asked his disciples. (Luke 8:24-25)

Do you struggle on your own with your problems until you are at the end of your tether? You need to have more faith: faith in the power of Christ drives away fear. He is never far. Rest in him.

" How often we look upon God as our last and feeblest resource! We go to Him because we have nowhere else to go. And then we learn that the storms of life have driven us, not upon the rocks, but into the desired haven.” -  George MacDonald
