Celebrating Freedom

“In my anguish I cried to the LORD, and he answered by setting me free” (Psalm 118:5 N.I.V).

A strong and healthy democratic government is a pre requisite to ensure essential human freedoms for all. These freedoms include: freedom of speech and expression, freedom of worship, freedom from want, and freedom from fear. All who are free should offer praise to God daily for his grace and mercies.

Generally freedom does not come free. It involves sacrifice and many have lost their lives in its cause. Let us take time and celebrate them today. Let us also remember to pray for all those who remain in various shackles of the greed, corruption and ignorance of fellow men, and for others who continue to give their lives for the freedom of others.

Let us each glorify God by leading others to attain all freedoms, and especially the freedom that is attained in having Jesus as our Lord; which ensures freedom from sin and death.
