Kicking out the devil

Dragon

Dragon

"When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick. (Matthew 8:16 NIV)

The devil is the tempter of humankind and caused the fallout between man and God. He is also called Satan, the wicked one and the great dragon. The devil deceives people by rationalizing sin: making it seem attractive and wise and deviously perverting the word of God like he did with Eve in the Garden of Eden (Genesis Chapter 2) and Jesus in the desert (Matthew Chapter 4). Jesus overcame Satan’s temptations by countering with a quotation relevant to the circumstances. Jesus has power to overcome Satan, sicknesses and all our troubles with the right word. He is the mighty word which was there from the beginning and became flesh to save us from our sins. Calling on his precious name will always help us kick the devil from our lives. In him we can overcome anything because it is written, “And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. (John 14:13)

“Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the LORD our Maker;” Psalm 95:6

*****

“Pray often, for prayer is a shield to the soul, a sacrifice to God, and a scourge for Satan.”  - John Bunyan
