Bloom in the new year

Do you feel that you are living a life true to yourself? Many people hold beliefs and fears that hold their life back. To a large extent our careers, our relationships and the way we think are governed by others and the world around us.

Most Christian 'believers' tend to echo the cultural prejudices and worldviews of the dominant groups in their country, with only a minority revealing any real transformation of attitudes or consciousness. It has been true of slavery and racism, classism and consumerism and issues of immigration and health care for the poor. -Richard Rohr

We need to connect, love and understand ourselves so that we can make the best of our lives. We need to grow by conquering our emotions, fears and the limitations we put on our physical, social and intellectual abilities. We need to be calm and confident about who we really are spiritually and in every other way. We need to be clear what we need in life in order to become the best we can be while tying up God’s purpose in creating us as unique individuals with unique potential.

“When I discover who I am, I’ll be free.” ― Ralph Ellison, Invisible Man

Let us not cede power to others and allow ourselves to take responsibility of our lives no matter the challenges. We need to work out our purpose and mission. We need to stand back and analyze our lives.  We need to refuse to assign blame or make excuses because in many cases we are responsible for the state and quality of our lives.  We need to make a plan for our future and commit ourselves to living a purposeful life from now on, with God’s guidance.

“Teach me to do Your will, For You are my God; Let Your good Spirit lead me on level ground”- Psalm 143:10
