WHEN THINGS FALL APART

Cyclone

In this world we are faced by many situations that can result in severe stress, anxiety, fear, anger, frustration, grief, hopelessness and many other tumultuous emotions. These feelings can overwhelm us, ruin our health, and diminish our ability to move forward.

But when we trust God and seek His guidance, He helps us make our way courageously through uncharted waters. He gives us his peace; a calmness and joy that knows no understanding, so that we develop a better sense of control over our thoughts and emotions, allowing us to make good decisions and move forward.

“The cyclone derives its powers from a calm centre. So does a person.” Norman Vincent Peale.

The Word of the Lord bids us to be strong and courageous as we face the storms. “Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you." Deuteronomy 31:6

In which storm will you trust the Lord for deliverance? Seek to have a calm centre and you will acquire the power you seek.

Fixing Your Eyes on Jesus

“Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him.”You of little faith," he said, "why did you doubt?" Matthew 14:31(N.I.V)

walking on water

Leornado da Vinci - Walking on water

When we depend on the power of God, He upholds us, but when we try to use our own power we fail. Our hopes must rest only on the Lord’s mercy. We keep on relearning this lesson, because we tend to forget all the times God came through for us.

Simon Peter had witnessed first hand many of Christ’s miracles. Jesus had just calmed the waves that had threatened to topple their boat. Jesus was walking on water towards their boat and Peter wanted to be able to do the same. Jesus called out to him to do so, and he did, he was able to walk on water too. But then he looked down and contemplated how impossible what he was doing was, and started sinking. It is only when he looked again at Jesus and got His hand to support him that he was able to walk again on water. Jesus asked him, "You of little faith, why did you doubt?"

Let us not forget to fix our eyes on Jesus. Let us erase our doubts and grow in faith, trusting that with God, everything is possible. We are able to walk on the surface of the waters of our problems, without sinking.

Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. ~ Hebrews 12:2
