WHEN THINGS FALL APART

Cyclone

In this world we are faced by many situations that can result in severe stress, anxiety, fear, anger, frustration, grief, hopelessness and many other tumultuous emotions. These feelings can overwhelm us, ruin our health, and diminish our ability to move forward.

But when we trust God and seek His guidance, He helps us make our way courageously through uncharted waters. He gives us his peace; a calmness and joy that knows no understanding, so that we develop a better sense of control over our thoughts and emotions, allowing us to make good decisions and move forward.

“The cyclone derives its powers from a calm centre. So does a person.” Norman Vincent Peale.

The Word of the Lord bids us to be strong and courageous as we face the storms. “Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you." Deuteronomy 31:6

In which storm will you trust the Lord for deliverance? Seek to have a calm centre and you will acquire the power you seek.

Life's Tapestry

Tapestry

"I want you woven into a tapestry of love, in touch with everything there is to know of God. Then you will have minds confident and at rest, focused on Christ, God's great mystery. All the richest treasures of wisdom and knowledge are embedded in that mystery and nowhere else. And we've been shown the mystery! I'm telling you this because I don't want anyone leading you off on some wild-goose chase, after other so-called mysteries, or "the Secret." (Colossians 2: 2-4 MSG)

A tapestry is a beautiful work of art made from a heavy cloth. It is woven with many intricate designs or scenes. It takes a lot of work and time to complete and while in progress, only the weaver knows what the finished piece will look like.

Our lives resemble these richly and complexly designed cloths with the scenes made out of our experiences and colored with our talents and gifts. Only the Lord, the master designer knows how each scene will play out. We just have to trust him that our experiences, no matter how bright or dark, will all work out beautifully together to the good.

When we remain focused on Christ, our hearts are at rest; confident that as our lives unfold they get embedded with God’s wisdom, knowledge, and strength. As the tapestry progresses we become more like Christ, quite beautiful in God’s sight and worthy of a place of honour in God’s eternal Kingdom.

Our lives are also woven into those of others. We are only a small piece of the tapestry. We become stronger in fellowship with those who also love Christ; fighting together in love for the true faith.

"All sunny skies would be too bright, all morning hours mean too much light, all laughing days too gay a strain; there must be clouds, and night, and rain, and shut-in days, to make us see the beauty of life's tapestry!" Anonymous
