Bloom Where You are Planted

“Nevertheless, each person should live as a believer in whatever situation the Lord has assigned to them, just as God has called them. This is the rule I lay down in all the churches.” (1 Corinthians 7:17 NIV)

There is a saying that “If you want to have friends, be one”.  Zig Jiglar also said."“If you go looking for a friend, you’re going to find they’re scarce. If you go out to be a friend, you’ll find them everywhere.”

Conflicts with co workers and bosses can lead to severe psychological and physical stress. It is therefore good to try as much as possible to be friends with people. Reaching out to people even in small ways such as a genuine smile or support during personal crisis creates goodwill, a happy working environment and increased productivity. If we are there for others they are more likely to be there for us, but this should not be the main reason we should make friends. We should be compassionate to others without the expectation of a reward. Even if they disappoint us, doing good always generates positive emotions for the giver. And there is joy in doing it as to God and setting a good example for others. “But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” Jeremiah 17:7-8
