Pour Out Your Heart to the Lord

Bird: Bleeding heart

“Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.”(Psalm 62:8 N.I.V)

There are some things our hearts desire so much that everything else we have pales in significance.

For Hannah it was a son. Her husband claimed to love her but it was not enough. She was overwhelmed by the taunts of her co-wife.In her deep anguish Hannah prayed to the Lord, weeping bitterly” (1 Samuel 1:10).   And even though she was praying in her heart, her lips were moving and the priest thought that she was drunk."Not so, my lord," Hannah replied, "I am a woman who is deeply troubled. I have not been drinking wine or beer; I was pouring out my soul to the LORD”. 1 Samuel 1:15

For Abraham also it was a son. Ten years down the line, the Lord had as yet to provide the son he had been promised and he felt so discouraged that when the Lord told him “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward” (Genesis 15:1) Abraham said, “O Sovereign LORD, what can you gives me since I remain childless and the one who will inherit my estate is Eliezer of Damascus?" Genesis 15:2.

What is your hearts desire? Whether spiritual or temporal, pour out it out to the Lord and he will provide in his own way and in his time. But do not forget that what you really need is to accept the Lord as your shield and reward.

The more we love God the more we will obey. The more we obey the more we will be aware of the reality of Christ in our lives. The more we are aware of Christ in our lives, the more victory we will experience. The more victory we experience, the less difficult the choices are and the less conflict we have within ourselves”.
