Planning for a Productive Year

grapes

“Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it? (Luke 14:28 NIV)

What goals or resolutions do you hope to achieve this year? Have you carefully thought through how you are going to accomplish them?  Whether the goals are spiritual, personal, physical, emotional, in regard to marriage and relationships, financial or professional, you stand a better chance of accomplishing them when you have an action plan on how you will organize your resources. These include time, money, energy and human resources. You also have to be disciplined in working towards the goals, and persistent in the face of any setbacks. Even though God directs our paths, we have been given the power of choice. We need to make our requests (or goals and plans) known to him, and use the wisdom and strength he gives us to accomplish them. “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God”. (Philippians 4:6)

Four steps to achievement: Plan purposefully. Prepare prayerfully. Proceed positively. Pursue persistently. William A. Ward
