Turning up for the work

Hard Work

“The desire of the sluggard kills him, for his hands refuse to labor.” Proverbs 21:25 ESV

If there is a job to be done, you may find that the experts may not the most willing to work at the job. Some wait for the right work; suited for their qualifications and their status. They may be lazy, or feel they are not being compensated enough especially if its voluntary work. Often the best qualification for undertaking the work is just to be available: turning up for the work. Some less qualified people may turn out to be more efficient; they just pull up their sleeves and do the work the best way they can. Such people end up receiving the pleasures, honor and blessings which the slothful covet. Let us serve the Lord and others when we can, with all the strength he gives us.

What are you willing to do for others this Christmas season? Turn up for the Lord, as he turned up for you.

*****

“Hard work spotlights the character of people: some turn up their sleeves, some turn up their noses, and some don't turn up at all.” Sam Ewing
