The power to make the impossible happen

The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. . .”(Luke 1:35 (N.I.V)

When Mary was told by the angel that she would have a baby she asked, “How will this be, since I am a virgin?” Luke 1: 34. The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you…even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age  … no word from God will ever fail.”

Sometimes we are in difficult circumstances: the care of a sick relative, raising a difficult child, loving an emotionally distant spouse, acting with respect towards a hard inconsiderate boss for just one more day seems impossible and we feel like shouting, “I give up!” We cannot work out how to succeed, the task looks impossible. If we continue working on our own we will surely fail, but we cannot fail with God, because God can never fail and will arrange all things for his glory and our ultimate joy and peace. Nothing is impossible for him. “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you”. Nothing can defeat us if we say like Mary, “Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.”Let the Lord take over.
