The soles of your feet carry the Good News to the souls of men

The bridegroom, my brother, was late and we were getting very impatient. We had traveled 200 kilometers into the countryside to the junction where we were to meet so as to proceed with him and his party to his bride’s parents for the marriage negotiations.  He arrived, two hours late complete with a convoy of three minibuses full of old neighbors and relatives I had not seen in years.  So many people had come through for him and had come bearing money and other gifts. It showed their love for him, at a time when he has been having a lot of problems. And the way he beamed when he saw us, it was a sight to behold. It made us forget instantly our wait in the sweltering heat.  I had not seen him so happy and optimistic in his life. What joy we found in reminiscing with those loved ones we had not seen for so long! And what joy to get to know new people from the bride’s side and to listen to their refreshing perspectives on relationships! And what a beautiful scenic country the Lord created!

Showing other people that you care is like a healing balm to their souls, and yours. No matter what inconveniences you may have to suffer; the distance you may have to travel, or the weather you may experience it is all worth it. Travel that extra mile and make somebody happy. It will glorify the Lord.
