Lose Yourself in the Greatness of God

“The Lord your God is in your midst,  a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness;  he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.” Zephaniah 3:17 E.S.V)

As human beings we have many needs. These include subsistence, protection, affection, understanding, participation, leisure, creation, identity and freedom. Many of these needs are linked to our relationships. Often, we become unhappy when the persons expected to supply them do not freely provide. We feel unloved, unappreciated, angry and worthless. We lose our joy, patience, self control, and the ability to show kindness, gentleness, goodness, and faithfulness to all.

But we can be happy, and peaceful, and good despite other people’s actions.  We can work at becoming less self absorbed, needy and fearful. We can put our faith in our actions; our whole state of being. We can focus on the reality that we are made in the image of God, who loves us and values us. He has a great purpose for each one of us and by his grace will provide us even with the power to increase our faith. We need to lose ourselves in his plan. We need to feel surrounded by his love and protection and draw our identity from Him.
