The Cry of the Innocent

Refugees

Refugees

“Woe to you who add house to house and join field to field till no space is left and you live alone in the land.”  (Isaiah 5:8 N.I.V)

The poor have less access to food, water and sanitation, health, education, security and many other needs. They are marginalized and have little voice in public and political debates and many have little opportunity to change their status.

Conversely, the wealthy benefit more from economic and political policies allowing them to get even richer. The wealthy tend to acquire power and influence; thus allowing scope to make legislation that allows furtherance of their business (for example financial bailouts) and their causes.

Is it any wonder then that many respect the power of money, no matter how ill gotten? What is your individual responsibility to others? Do you approve astronomic salaries and benefits for some while some hard working people get “peanuts”? Do you realize the power of inequality to infuse anger and violence?  Use the voice and opportunities you have to make life better for others.

"When plunder becomes a way of life for a group of men together in a society, they create for themselves in the course of time, a legal system that authorizes it and a moral code that glorifies it." -- Frédéric Bastiat
