Where there is Life there is Hope

"You grew weary in your search, but you never gave up. Desire gave you renewed strength, and you did not grow weary" (Isaiah 57:10 N.L.T)

It is good to believe passionately that even though things may not be going well today, things will be better. Where there is life there should also be hope. Mark 5:21-43 relates the story of the woman who had bled for twelve years. She had suffered deeply from rejection in a culture which considered her unclean and ineffective cures which had exhausted her resources. Her hopes for a better life were raised when she heard about Jesus’ miracles and she took a step to touch his garment. And Jesus brought her to the attention of others by approving of her and calling her “daughter”. No longer would she be considered unclean and unfit to mingle with others.

Do you know that you are also powerful? Your attention, your smile, your care and encouragement to others can work miracles by bolstering their hope and self esteem. You can give them “a touch of your garment”, the hope that dwells in you. This hope is critical to the sick, those society has marginalized, young unemployed adults, those addicted to drugs, and many others suffering from hopelessness and pain. And the hope kindled in others will also work to bless your own life, and you will have the strength to face up to all the adversity life brings your way.
