The Ancient Paths

Mountain path

“This is what the LORD says: "Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But you said, 'We will not walk in it.'“(Jeremiah 6:16 N.I.V)

What is your intended destination and is the road you are following the right one?  New roads are easy to use so many are on them. They are smooth and straight, and there are no hassles.  The new paths are those of new wisdom and trends and they often lead astray.  Are you too tolerant of the worship trends and practices, and the definition of what is sinful; afraid to be called backward and ancient?

The old paths which have been made by all the past generations are rough and meandering. There are stones and thorns of their experiences as they seek and prove the true path. They are summarized in Scripture which “… is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. (2 Timothy 3:16 N.L.T.) You would be wise to follow the ancients who have followed these paths marked by the Lord’s laws. They include the prophets, Jesus and the apostles. They are the only good ways in which we can find rest for our souls and they are God’s will for us. Even as things change all the really important things remain the same. Do not miss the path to God.
