Nothing can destroy you: if you lead a pure life

Explosion

“Or those eighteen who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them—do you think they were more guilty than all the others living in Jerusalem? I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish.” (Luke 13:4-5 N.I.V)

There are so many mass deaths today. Some as a result of religious fanaticism, political instigations, motor and plane accidents, and natural disasters like earthquakes and landslides. When death happens to people and especially when it happens in great numbers, it makes news headlines. People debate with each other on why it happened, who was to blame and if it could have been prevented. Sometimes it is possible to lay the blame on someone. Sometimes we simply will never know why some tragedies happen, if it is punishment from God for sins or not. However, death of others always calls to attention those who are left that they still have a chance to change their sinful ways. Jesus emphasized that the greater question we should always ask ourselves should be,” what am I personally going to do, given that I am also going to die one day, maybe even later today?”.  You should repent so that when death inevitably comes as it will to all of us, then you will have eternal life; you will not be destroyed.

"On life's journey faith is nourishment, virtuous deeds are a shelter, wisdom is the light by day and right mindfulness is the protection by night. If a man lives a pure life, nothing can destroy him."
