Kairos: The Opportune Moment

“Therefore I am now going to allure her; I will lead her into the wilderness and speak tenderly to her.
There I will give her back her vineyards, and will make the Valley of Achor a door of hope. There she will respond as in the days of her youth,  as in the day she came up out of Egypt.” Hosea 2:14

Chronological  time moves sequentially and is measured in seconds, hours, days, years and so on; every second or day lasting the same period. But sometimes time seems to stand still when there is a momentous occasion and so many wondrous things happen together. For many Christians Kairos is the significant moment when the way of salvation was revealed to you clearly; when your soul felt so penitent of your sins, and the word of the Lord felt so sweet in your ears.

There is a crucial time when the allure of salvation invades us, often when we are in a desert place, alone and abandoned by those we had loved and worshiped, jobless, sick and unable to go to the job that consumed all our time; available for God to speak to us. The signs of the times also speak to us with urgency, to reach out to others with renewed energy, using all available resources, tapping into advanced communications and information technology, our knowledge of other languages and easy travel to other countries. Let us rise up to the occasion. Eternal joy and freedom awaits us.
