Embracing the Opportunities Presented Today

“Therefore God again set a certain day, calling it Today, when a long time later he spoke through David, as was said before: "Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts." Hebrews 4:7 (N.I.V)

It is said that an Eastern monarch once charged his wise men to invent him a sentence to be ever in view, and which should be true and appropriate in all times and situations. They presented him the words: "And this, too, shall pass away”.

It is true: everything in this world will pass away, even you. All situations bad and good: nothing lasts, but every new day represents new opportunities. Today is an opportunity to meet threats and challenges head on and grow towards your purpose. Today presents another opportunity to do good to others, and to improve your life. Today presents another opportunity to look back on life without regrets. It is an opportunity to get into God’s rest: a state of grace, comfort, holiness and hope, even as we await the heavenly eternal rest. Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your heart, for tomorrow awaits God’s revelation. Everything will pass away except the word of God.
