The Struggle to Do Away With the Body of Sin

Hair Pulling Stress

“What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death?” Romans 7:24 (NIV)

In Romans 6:6, it is written, “For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin”. However, sometimes it seems that our old self is still strapped on us: inescapable and out of our control; dragging us down to the eternal death we are seeking to escape. Could it be really you that replied to that person so rudely without stopping to think?  That felt so down and out and hopeless? Hasn’t God given us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control? (2Timothy 1:7). Ours is a constant battle that we have to maintain. And we will overcome; with God’s help.

We create an environment where it is alright to hate, to steal, to cheat, and to lie if we dress it up with symbols of respectability, dignity and love.  - Whitney Moore, Jr.
