A New Name in the Lord

A New Name

“But now, O Jacob, listen to the LORD who created you. O Israel, the one who formed you says, "Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine.” Isaiah 43:1 (N.L.T)

There is a new identity given to those who have been ransomed by the Lord. For some, a completely new name is necessary to signify their new found overcoming faith. That is why Abram became Abraham after the covenant God made with him. “No longer will you be called Abram; your name will be Abraham, for I have made you a father of many nations. Genesis 17:5.  Jacob also became Israel,” Then the man said, "Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel, because you have struggled with God and with men and have overcome." Genesis 32:28. And Saul became known as Paul after he was filled with the Holy Spirit (Acts 13:9).

So now (Tom or Mary or YOUR NAME) listen to the Lord who created you. O (Tom or Mary or YOUR NAME), the one who formed you says, "Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine” So give glory to the Lord who has called you by your name, who has given you his wonderful name and do not let anything you do bring dishonor to His name.
