The Heart of a Good Father

Father and Son

“He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers; or else I will come and strike the land with a curse." Malachi 4:6 (N.I.V)

A heart represents sensitivity to others needs; empathy, kindness, and gentleness. It is a quality representing care giving and nurturing which is not often associated with men in our society. When the father’s heart is not turned towards his children, if he is not physically and emotionally present in their lives, they feel insecure and often grow into maladjusted adults who are scornful, angry, resentful, discouraged and bitter.  These children are more prone to aggression, crime, drug abuse, suicidal tendencies and a host of other social ills. “Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger by the way you treat them. Rather, bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord.” Ephesians 6:4

A good father with a strong loving bond with his children is a great gift because he creates a sense of joy and peace in his home which is extended to the rest of the world.
