Different Positions and Forms of Praise and Worship

Praise and Worship

“Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker” Psalm 95:6

In worshiping and praising God, we express our devotion to him and exalt him through prayers and song, deliberating on his Word, and many other things. We may bow down or kneel before him (Psalm 95:6). We can stand (Exodus 33:10), we can sit (Acts 2:1-2), we can lie down prostrate (1 Kings 18:39), we can lift our hands (Psalm 63:4), we can dance (Psalm 149:3), we can use musical instruments (Psalm 98:4-6) we can clap and shout with joy (Psalm 47:1-2), or do many other things. We can either solemn or cheerful, alone or with others, at home or in the workplace. It should be a way of including him in everything we do; sharing with him all our joys and fears in the knowledge that we belong to him, he loves and cares for us and all power comes from him. “You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things and by your will they were created and have their being” (Revelation 4:11).

involved in genuine worship." Jerry Kerns
