Sowing the Seed of Your Needs

A helping Hand

“After Job had prayed for his friends, the LORD made him prosperous again and gave him twice as much as he had before.”  Job 42:10 (N.I.V)

Many of us, when we have problems tend to internalize them. We are consumed by self pity and unable to think of anything else. Even when we pray, our prayers are all about telling God what we need. Job had a lot of trials and had lost virtually all he had. But the Bible says that after he had prayed for his friends, the Lord made him prosperous again and gave him twice as much as he had before. Praying for mercy and blessings for his friends who had been unfeeling and judgmental opened the way for God’s mercy and blessings for Job.

Ruth had lost her husband but looked beyond her heartbreak to support her mother in law who faced a bleak future after losing her husband and her two sons. Through her commitment to forever be there for Naomi, the Lord blessed her by giving her a loving husband: Boaz.

Keep your perspective even in your worst tribulations. God still cares for you and wants you to keep on loving Him and others. Many times the answer to our prayers comes from helping others achieve what they need. Are you lonely, go out and encourage somebody else. Are you depressed after losing your job? Go out and help somebody get their joy back. Reach out to the poor and hungry and God will bless you. Doing good is good for you. “Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.” Psalm 37:3 (K.J.V)

He who prays for his fellow-men always finds acceptance for himself first of all. Talmud
