Pathways to a Joyful Life

Jumping for Joy

“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: rejoice. Let your gentleness be evident to all” Philippians 4:1-2 N.I.V

There are many pathways to find more joy and to give more joy to others.

When we trust God and obey his commandments we are infused with the joy of being right with Him. Despite the circumstances we are we get “the peace of God that transcends all understanding” to guard our hearts and minds. Philippians 4:7

Just by contemplating the beauty of everything around us; the colors, the patterns, the diversity, the very nature of their being we can be greatly inspired to enjoy life.

Compassion and kindness to other human beings (and animals) also heals us and gives us a deeper appreciation of life. When we respond to the needs of others by listening, uttering loving words, laughing with them, and praying with them; we get a nice warm feeling in our hearts that also lessens the weight of our burdens.

When we listen to music in its many forms, including singing, accompaniments like piano or guitar, and even dancing, we feel moved to another realm of tremendous joy. We feel more confident and hopeful for a brighter future. Joyful singing brings joy, like the exhilaration of new found love!

Eating sumptuous food also gives us great joy especially when we share it with others. Many celebrations feel empty without the sharing of a meal. Jesus shared many meals with his disciples and friends, and we celebrate the “Holy Communion” with bread and wine in celebrating the life he gave up for us.

Let us be joyful on earth, with anticipation of even greater joy in heaven.
