The Discipline of Celebration

Celebration

“You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy” Psalm 30:11 N.I.V

Some people live a life full of boredom and dour faces: avoiding parties, fashionable clothes, good food, rich music, and humor. They think wrongly that God does not want them to enjoy life. They find no joy in their lives and therefore bring none to others. But they expect joy and singing, and all manner of celebration in heaven. Heaven starts here. Christ died so as to cloth us with joy, and we should celebrate this every day of our lives. We are redeemed: there is no need to wear sackcloth any more!

Think of all the Lord has done for you. Celebrate like Miriam after God delivered the people of Israel from the Egyptians, “Then Miriam the prophet, Aaron's sister, took a tambourine and led all the women as they played their tambourines and danced. Exodus 15:20 N.L.T

Think like the women who celebrated the death of the mighty Goliath. “When the men were returning home after David had killed the Philistine, the women came out from all the towns of Israel to meet King Saul with singing and dancing, with joyful songs and with tambourines and lutes.” 1 Samuel 18:6

Celebrate like David after he had been delivered from his enemies the Philistines, and the Ark of God could finally be transported to Jerusalem to ensure blessings to all the people. “David, wearing a linen ephod, danced before the LORD with all his might, 2 Samuel 6:14.

Why aren’t you proclaiming what the Lord has done for you with songs and dance?

Discipline yourself to celebrate, for your every breath is worth a celebration.
