Finding the Pearl of Great Value

Pearl

“When he discovered a pearl of great value, he sold everything he owned and bought it!” Matthew 13:46 N.L.T

A pearl was for many centuries considered the most valuable gemstone. Because of its high luster and deep color, it has traditionally been seen by many cultures to symbolize purity, innocence, faith, honesty, wisdom and dignity.

Jesus compared the Kingdom of heaven with a pearl of great value. It was worth more than everything the merchant had, and he was happy to sell all he had in order to possess it. What value have you personally put upon the Kingdom of God? Jesus thought each one of us worth dying for so that we could go there. We are his pearls. In order to claim heaven for ourselves, we also need to value it above our lives and need to surrender everything we have to it. Nothing can compare with the inheritance of Christ. Though it is not superficially visible to us on earth, the Kingdom of God is the source of eternal joy. It is priceless. It makes us holy and pure like Christ and fit to get to heaven through the pearly gates (Revelation 21:21)

Contentment is a pearl of great price and whoever procures it at the expense often thousand desires makes a wise and happy purchase. John Bulguy
