The Right Path of Life

Two roads

“You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.” Psalm 16:11 NIV

There a children’s story about a greedy hyena that was searching for food. He discerned a strong aroma of a delicious meal. He could not decide which path to follow since he was at an intersection. He decided to go up one way and could still smell some food but then he thought, maybe the other way led to a better meal. So he went back and followed the other way for a distance. Then he considered and was not sure whether the aroma coming from the direction was as good as the previous one. So he went back to the intersection, where he sat and deliberated for a while. He decided not to miss either of the meals. So he put the left limbs on one path and the right limbs on the other one. But of course he could only take a few steps because the distance between the paths increased with every step. As the story goes he split into two!

Are you trying to follow both the narrow way of Christ and the worldly highway? It is not possible. You have to make a choice. You know the right path, the one that leads to eternal and not fleeting pleasures.
