Buried Talent and the Nay Sayers.

Spade

“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15 N.I.V

Many people die with the talents they were born with because they listen to others who tell them that “it is not possible” because of their gender, race, age, education, the town they come from and many other reasons. In the parable of the talents (Matthew 25:14-30) one servant was given five talents and was able to make five more, another was given two and was able to make two more, while the third one was given one talent which he promptly buried. When asked why he did not make any profit for the master, he said it was because the master was a bad taskmaster who reaped where he did not sow. He did not want to take any risks with the talent because he feared the master.

Are you like the man with one talent, fearful to take any risks with the resources and abilities you have? Are you unable to share the revelation of the Word the Lord has given you because you are afraid of what the people will say, or do you feel unqualified for the task? How did you get that way? Did you listen to the nay Sayers along the way who told you that you could not hope to win? Why do you listen to people who malign your boss or the company you work for? Don’t you owe them allegiance and faithful service?

Many people limit themselves by fulfilling the expectations of others. You are expected to fit a certain mold, think in the way your parents, peers, colleagues and society think. This limits the scope of your abilities. Set yourself apart and do what feels right for you. Take the risk with the talent you have been forgiven. Jump and take the challenge. It is better to try and fail than live for ever in regret after the opportunity window is closed.
