The Gift of Adversity

Joni Eareskson Tada

Joni Eareckson Tada

“Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” Ephesians 4:31-32 NIV

Has somebody hurt you badly or have you suffered a misfortune that left you bitter and angry? You should try and discover how God can use your situation to bring others to him instead of bemoaning what you have lost.

Joni Eareckson Tada is one of the greatest examples of courage in the face of tremendous difficulty. Following a diving accident at the age of seventeen, Joni broke her spine and became totally paralyzed from the neck down. After two years of struggle with pain, despair, and anger towards God, during which she even contemplated suicide, she gathered courage and took up the challenge of motivating others to find strength to live a full purposeful life through Christ despite their disability or other adverse circumstances. Her injury became a gift to suffering people everywhere; a living example of learning to depend on God’s strength..

God says,” Call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.” Psalms 50:15 (N.K.J.V)
