Why You Should Praise God

A tambourine

“And Miriam answered them, Sing you to the LORD, for he has triumphed gloriously; the horse and his rider has he thrown into the sea.” Exodus 15: 21

God takes us out of seemingly impossible situations. Miriam led the women, with tambourines and dancing to celebrate their deliverance from Egypt when Pharaoh’s army that was pursuing them perished into the Red Sea after the people of Israel had crossed to safety.

God likes to be praised because that way, people get to know of His Glorious power and they can grow in faith. His reputation is enhanced in the world as people get to know Him and His character.

The people of Israel were rescued from Egypt where they had suffered injustice as a show of God’s mercy to them and also as part of God’s plan for our salvation. God does not fight in the traditional weapons we know like guns and bombs. He can call upon every force of nature according to His purposes. The waters can part for us to cross, and fresh water can come from a stone.

Do not worry about difficult things that come into your life. God will be there to help you conquer. Go forward with confidence. And do not forget to take out your “harps and tambourines” and sing Him songs of praise in anticipation.

“Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him. Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.”

Psalms 62:5-6
