The Plank in Our Eye

A Clear Eye

"Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?” (Matthew 7:3 NIV)

When you look in the mirror, do you see a perfect person in every way? Do you think all your actions are justifiable and pass on any blame to various scapegoats?

Many people are hypocrites and pass judgment on others, ignoring their own many weaknesses and failings. This is due to pride, arrogance, a vain opinion of themselves, and confidence in their own righteousness.  Critical judgment of others is often based on selfishness, malice and envy. The judgment we pass on others is the one we deserve. We need to correct our mistakes; cleanse ourselves of our sins, and then we can have the moral authority to lead others to the right way.

Whenever we feel that others have done us wrong, we should not hold them totally responsible; we should examine any action on our part that could have contributed to the process and correct it. Good healthy relationships are two way.

Let us pray that God shows us how to correct our failures, and be able to clearly see and love others.

Many of us believe that wrongs aren't wrong if it's done by nice people like ourselves.~Author Unknown
