Cycles of Life

Men at Work sign

“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven” (Ecclesiastes 3:11 NIV)

Life is ever changing. When we find a good job to do,  it is a time of excitement and great expectation. But all too soon it seems we have to leave. This could be due to downsizing, retirement, sacking or any other means. To many people the loss of a job is traumatizing because it means loss of finances, social status, and ability to practice our skills. Our self esteem can take a real beating.

Instead of giving in to despair, we need to manage these times with grace and acceptance and find opportunities in our changing circumstances to serve God in a different capacity. We need to remain positive: keep up a healthy lifestyle and in touch with others socially. Our work is one way to serve God and He is always opening up new ways. We need to trust God with our future and enjoy whatever season we find ourselves in, because our first duty is to please Him.
