Setting a Good Example

Mother and Son

"Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up". (Deuteronomy 11:19 N.I.V)

Children who are brought up in the way of the Lord are lucky because wherever they go, they have the best guide and comforter within them. They can always draw from the strength of the Lord who they keep near.

Some parents however teach a mixed message to their children because they expect their children to follow their advice, while they themselves live by different principles. Actions speak louder than words and children will usually follow what they have seen their parents do.

Other parents have no joy in their lives making their children feel trapped and eager to escape home to enjoy themselves. Christian homes should be full of laughter; there should be no sorrow in following the Lord. He carried all our sorrows to the cross and we should bring them there to Him.

Parents should also show love and consideration to their children. They should be patient and forgiving of their transgressions. They should always give them quality time when they can guide them through their experiences and difficulties.

The parent’s life observed under every situation is the best bible for their children; how they depend on God through every life event in life a lesson in faith. The best teaching is by example.
