The Glorification of Christ

Christ in a Stable

“Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord”. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.” These were the words of the angels to the shepherds.” (Luke 2:11-14 NIV)

Although Jesus was God, he was first revealed to humble people; Mary and her husband Joseph and the Shepherds. He was also born in a manger, a humble place meant for the animals. This shows that what matters to God is the humility and fear of the Lord in our hearts and not our earthily positions. It also shows that Jesus’ rule is one of a humble servant. He came to serve, not to be served.

Jesus came for the sake of those who realize their sinful state and their powerlessness to live a righteous life on their own capacity. He has great love for each one of us and rescues us from the bondage of sin and eternal condemnation. He also guides, comforts and strengthens us as we meet various life challenges. He provides peace in our hearts no matter what our circumstances are. He is good, all wise, faithful, merciful and just. He is also always with us and we never need feel lonely or helpless. He has vested the power of his grace upon us.

This is why we should always look to Christ with joy and adoration, just like the multitude of angels and the shepherds. Like them, we cannot fully glorify Christ without a personal encounter with him and the realization of his majesty and the truths he personifies. Let us all then sing and praise God for the baby Jesus who is born again in our hearts and conduct ourselves in ways that please and honor him.

“And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment; That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ. Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.” (Philippians 1:9-11 KJV)
