christmas Bells

Your New Moon feasts and your appointed festivals I hate with all my being. They have become a burden to me; I am weary of bearing them. When you spread out your hands in prayer, I hide my eyes from you; even when you offer many prayers, I am not listening. Your hands are full of blood! Wash and make yourselves clean. Take your evil deeds out of my sight; stop doing wrong. Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow. Isaiah 1: 14-17 (NIV).

Are you sure that the Lord is happy with the way you celebrate his birth? Are your hands clean with righteous deeds and your heart full of gratitude to God and love of others?

Christmas is a day when we commemorate the birth of Christ. It is a time to remember that Jesus came so that we could be saved through his sacrifice at the cross. We celebrate Christmas with joy and merry making because of the hope of eternity Jesus gave us. It is a time to humbly worship God, thank him and demonstrate our love for him through our generosity and kindness to others.

During this season we need to invite the Lord’s presence and blessings by rededicating ourselves to him and doing what is right in his eyes.  There are many sins committed by people in celebration of Christmas such as immorality and riotous living. God is not pleased with such corrupt hearts. The Lord wants our sincere faith and devotion and not mere observance of religious festivals.

Let us then inject our faith to the celebrations and spread a message of peace and goodwill to all men, remembering the hungry, lonely and sick that would appreciate our show of love; and the knowledge of Christ.
