Do Not Be Intimidated to Follow Popular Opinion

“This is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel after that time, says the Lord, I will put my laws in their minds, and write them on their hearts…” Hebrews 8:10 (N.I.V)

Quite a lot of things we read or hear in popular media go against  Christian principles. Some of the things which are common practice for many, trouble the conscience of a discerning follower of Christ. And even those we consider to be of high standing like leaders in church say and do things which we feel are not right.

It is tempting to follow the world which looks in askance at those who do things differently. However we should should always act on the faith we profess and measure everything against the word of God. In Hebrews 8:10, the word of the Lord says, “I will put my laws in their minds”.  We do not need to look externally for rules and principles to follow, since God’s law is inside of us; activating our conscience and influencing our motives and desires. All of us are equal in this, so we should not follow others even if it is the latest religious trend and others might judge us lesser Christians for failure to comply. Remember; religion is subject to social pressures but our faith should prevail against negative culture. Religion will not take us to heaven.

We should be steadfast and seek the will of the Lord. Those who sincerely and diligently seek God’s will will find it.  “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:13).

So prayerfully read the Bible, listen to your conscience and be alert to various happenings in the world which threaten to bend your faith. The answer will come to you.
