“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work: If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up!" ~ Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 (N.K.J.V)

Friends are important for our well being. They offer companionship and share our joys and sorrows. They encourage and comfort us; making life less stressful.

The greatest friendship depicted in the Bible is that of David and Jonathan. “And Jonathan made a covenant with David, because he loved him as himself” . (1 Samuel 18:3). Jonathan protected David against his own father Saul who wanted to kill him, and after Jonathan’s death, David took care of his friend’s disabled son Mephibosheth and his family as a show of kindness in memory of his friend.

The love and companionship of Ruth and Naomi (B00k of Ruth) is also very inspirational, and each was greatly blessed through their relationship. The Christian walk is difficult without others to fellowship with. That is why believers are exhorted to meet often with one another as one body of Christ. Jesus and his disciples and the early Christians led a communal life. When we have friends who share our interests, we can lean and learn from one another and make better choices. The walk with Christ becomes easier.

Appreciate your friends today.
