OVERCOMING UNBELEIF

“If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.”   Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!” Mark 9: 23-24 NIV

A man with a son possessed by an evil spirit asked Jesus to heal him “if he can”. His disciples had tried to heal the boy in vain. Jesus said that everything is possible for one who believes and drove the evil spirit out of the boy.

Are you overcome with unbelief and doubt over God’s promises? It is essential that you grow in faith because as Hebrews 11:6 says, “… without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”

You cannot muster faith on your own. Jesus said that unbelief can only be overcome with prayer (Mark 9:29). Ask the lord constantly to strengthen your faith, so that you mature in your faith and do not doubt the Lord’s mighty power over every thing and every situation. Trust the Lord to walk with you and carry you through every trial and difficulty.
