Work for the Soul

"The soul of the sluggard craves and gets nothing, while the soul of the diligent is richly supplied." Proverbs 13:14 (ESV)

You do not get anything from wishing alone. You get the wishes you labor for.

If you want riches, you must work very hard for it.  If you are lazy and do not want to get tired, your wishes for riches are in vain.

If you want the fruits of the Spirit, you strive for growth and maturity in Christ and not backslide or stagnate at the level where you first met Christ. You read, listen to and practice the word, and pray constantly.

Our bodies are meant for work. If you work hard, your mind and body become fit, and you have the strength and energy to seek God and serve others. When you are right with God and others, your stress levels are down and your body feels fit to work.

So work hard for what you wish for, and your soul will rejoice for the rich supplies.

*****

Good for the body is the work of the body, and good for the soul is the work of the soul, and good for either is the work of the other. Henry David Thoreau
