SEEK TO PROPHESY "Follow the way of love and eagerly desire gifts of the Spirit, especially prophecy.” 1 Corinthians 14:1

There are many gifts of the Holy Spirit.  They include wisdom, knowledge, faith, healing, working miracles, prophesy, discerning spirits, speaking in tongues, and interpretation of tongues. These gifts which impart certain divine qualities to believers are given for the profit of all; to deliver better service to God and other men.

All the gifts of the Holy Spirit are good but Paul placed a lot of importance on developing the gift of prophecy. Prophesy could mean foretelling future events. It also covers forth telling: application of scripture to present day conditions and people’s lives. This is the ability to teach and instruct others in the things of their salvation so that they can be strengthened, encouraged, and comforted. Prophesy therefore builds the church from the individual level to the community.

Strive to acquire the gift and play a bigger role in the Great Commission.
