THE SOURCE

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”

Philippians 4:13 N.K.J.V.

A lot of situations in our lives seem very difficult to live through. We find it hard to find joy when we are poor and hungry, without shelter, sick, bereaved, abandoned, and persecuted. We feel hopeless, angry and bitter.  Paul had joy, peace and contentment as he persevered through many trials and tribulations. He knew that he could serve the purposes of God in whatever situation or place he found himself.

Jesus told us that if we have faith the size of a mustard seed, we can move mountains (Matthew 17:20). Mountains represent difficult things which seem impossible for us. They require a miracle to shift. By our own might, we cannot do much. However, if the source of our strength is the lord who is omnipotent, then we can do all things. Whether we are living through trials and temptations or prosperity and success we should be able to conduct ourselves in a way that honors God. It is possible for us to live a life full of love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control despite our circumstances. Let us depend on Our Lord, the source of unequalled power and wisdom.

*****

"Do not strive in your own strength; cast yourself at the feet of the Lord Jesus, and wait upon Him in the sure confidence that He is with you, and works in you. Strive in prayer; let faith fill your heart-so will you be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might". ~ Andrew Murray
