God's Favor

“For surely, O lord, you bless the righteous: you surround them with favor as with a shield” Psalms 5:12 NIV.

To be favored is to be provided with advantages and special consideration in comparison to what is shown to others. God showed special favor to the Jews as his intended instrument of salvation to the world. It is not that they merited this goodwill and generosity from God. It was grace. Salvation through Jesus Christ gives us his righteousness that makes us worthy of God’s favor. We are told that when we please God with our righteous actions, he gives us his favor as per his will. This can be in material ways such as our daily needs, health, friends who encourage us, triumphing over our enemies, journey mercies, and so on. However, we need to think of God’s favor more in terms of spiritual blessings such as love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control, and of course eternal life.

We seek God’s favor through praying; reading the bible and obeying God’s instructions therein; and seeking the knowledge and wisdom from the indwelling Holy Spirit .

Are you right with God and worthy of his favor?

God’s Favour
