ALLOWING GOD TO BUILD ON YOUR SITE
By Dudley Anderson

Destroyed House

"But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me." (2 Corinthians 12:9 N.I.V)

Author Ian Wilson once wrote, "London businessman Lindsay Clegg told the story of a warehouse property he was selling. The building had been empty for months and needed repairs. Vandals had damaged the doors, smashed the windows, and strewn rubbish around the interior.
As he showed a prospective buyer the property, Clegg took pains to say that he would replace the broken windows, bring in a crew to correct any structural damage, and clean out the rubbish.
"Forget about the repairs," the buyer said. "When I buy this place, I'm going to build something completely different. I don't want the building; I just want the site."

So many of us believe that we need to get our "houses in order" before we can set out to serve God. We think that God will never use anyone whose life is less than perfect. Well, let me ask one question of these people: how perfect need we be before we could match up to God's perfection? After all, isn't this why Jesus came to us?

The Bible tells us that none of us is perfect and that we have all fallen short of God's glory. Therefore none of us can ever be good enough for God, in ourselves, that is. But Jesus was (is) sinless, because he was not born into sin as we were. This is because he is God in the flesh. You see, only God can ever be good enough for God. Jesus Christ died to bear our sins and then rose from the dead so that we can be forgiven and saved. And that's what grace is all about!

Grace is God's doing. Grace saves us and grace empowers us to serve God. As with the client in our story above, God is not asking you to clean your site before he can use you. All he asks for is your old site and that you surrender your rubble to his grace to forgive, heal and rebuild you. If you're feeling less than self-confident today or feel that you don't have the right stuff to serve God then you're in a privileged position. You don't have the right stuff, but God does and it's called grace. You see, all that God wants is all of you, just as you are. God's grace is God's doing and God's doing a new work in you today. He is building something completely different. All he asks of you is the building site.

Allow God to build on your site.

Cool"We are absolutely nothing. We have nothing to be proud of. We have no abilities and nothing to offer God. The fact that he chooses to use us is only due to his grace. It has nothing to do with us. If God should raise others up for his purpose and never use us again, we should have nothing to complain about." --- Brother Yun

Pray:
"O wonderful Lord, thank you so much for your tender grace. Thank you that Jesus, the sinless One, died for me and rose again so I could be forgiven for the rubble in my life. Thank you that, by this grace, you have given me the freedom to come to you just as I am and just as I am, I come! Lord, forgive me for my human efforts at cleaning my building site. Today I completely surrender it to you to build my life according to your plans. I'm sorry for pre-empting those plans, too. Lord help me to hear your voice and follow your lead as I totally give you every part of my life to do what you choose to do with it, for your glory. Amen!"
