Repositioning Our Minds for Success

Listening

“How long must I take counsel in my soul and have sorrow in my heart all the day? How long shall my enemy be exalted over me?” (Psalm 13:2 E.S.V)

Human wisdom is imperfect and often leads us down the wrong path in business and personal life. It often leads to anxious concerns within us, and constant agony in our minds every day trying to determine how to handle seemingly impossible situations. However, if we reposition our minds so that God helps us to discern the right thing to do, we can change the course of our lives for the better.

King David was a real warrior and faced a lot of strife during his life. He fought with the Philistines, the Moabites, the Edomites, the Ammonites and the Arameans to establish his empire. He also and had to contend with rivalry and dissensions from Saul, and from his many wives and sons. He recognized that most of his problems came from taking his own counsel, and that of his advisers. He realized that he needed to change his pattern of thinking and doing things, and cried out for help from the Lord to help him in his situation.

We need the spiritual connection in order to work out both our business and personal lives. We should also desist from arrogance in our abilities. Pride will lead us astray and cost us victory over our physical and spiritual enemies will. But the Lord will perform mighty deeds for those who seek his counsel. As Luke 1:51 says, “He has performed mighty deeds with his arm; he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts”.
