Are You Leaning on Your Own Understanding?

“In all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths.' (Proverbs 3:6 AMP)

On the top of my business logo is the scripture verse Proverbs 3:5-6 “ Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding. In all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths.' (AMP)
This scripture is close to my heart because I know without God's guidance, without leaning on my own understanding; both my business and personal circumstances wouldn't have flourished as it has. Unfortunately in the past I became an expert in leaning on my own understanding. I set up businesses though they had a customer base I wasn't passionate about; there was only one thing on my mind, money! There are times when I had quiet periods, and during those times I became frustrated. There was no peace in me. Finally I gave in, realizing that my way wasn't working, 'Okay Lord I tried doing things by myself it's time to surrender to you,' were my exact words in prayer. To think I could have saved myself so much time and headache if I've done it God's way in the first place!
Believe me there is a massive difference when you allow the Lord to direct your path. I now ask you the question; do you lean to your own understanding in all situations? It could be in terms of career, friends, finances, writing etc. How do you feel? If you're truthful you are very frustrated, you have no peace, and you are not getting anywhere.
Now is the time to make a change. As Christians we must allow God to direct our paths. He knows what is best for us; he knows the beginning and the end. If you want a peaceful, stress free, decision making process then seek God's guidance, trust and wait.
Sometimes you may not get what you want. It could be a job, or a house, etc. But don't worry about it; God has better things in store for you. There are times when publishers turn down my author's work. I don't even question them concerning it. In fact I say thank you to them because, though they think it's their decision, it's the Lord stating this is not the right publisher for this author. There is nothing wrong with the publisher; it just wasn't in God's will because if it was they would have said yes. The Lord always gives the right publishers for my authors and the working relationships are wonderful.

Don't despair when things don't go your way and do not lean unto your own understanding, pray seek guidance, and wait because when God does things he does it in abundance and with excellence. Be encouraged.
