Do You Count Yourself Immortal?

Happy Easter

“I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades”. (Revelation 1:18 N.I.V)

Early on resurrection morning the women who loved Jesus went to his grave with spices at hand to give him the last respects by anointing his body. But he was not in the grave. Instead there were angels announcing the good news to them. And “In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, "Why do you look for the living among the dead?” (Luke 24:5) Jesus died at the cross but it was not possible for death to keep its hold on him. He says “I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever!”

Are you looking for him? Jesus is not found among those who are dead of sin but is in those who are alive and immersed in his righteousness. What does Jesus’ rising mean for you? He also says, “I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world." John 6:51. Have you eaten his bread so that you can also say, “I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever!”

“Let every man and woman count himself immortal.  Let him catch the revelation of Jesus in his resurrection.  Let him say not merely, "Christ is risen," but "I shall rise."  ~Phillips Brooks
