Cultivate Forgiveness in the Workplace

At the Cross

“Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” Luke 23:34 NIV

Many workplaces are charged with people trying to best one another. In such competitive conditions people want to amplify other peoples’ mistakes and ensure that they get punished or even fired; and they seek for a chance to exact revenge on those who have wronged them. It is difficult in such situations to hold down bitterness, but one of the chief lessons Jesus taught us is forgiveness. Even as he suffered on the cross, he remembered to pray that all who planned and executed his crucifixion were forgiven.

Forgiveness creates a culture of friendship instead of one of enmity. It reduces both your stress levels and that of subordinates, bosses and other colleagues. Help others correct their mistakes, apologize when you wrong them and as far as it depends on you keep peace and find ways to show kindness and to make others happy. Revenge is not for you. Leave justice to the loving father of all. Let this be your tribute to the savior this Easter season.

Forgiveness doesn't make the other person right, it makes you free. Stormie Omartian
